Thanks a bunch

Welcome to this week’s Reno News & Review.

I’ve got a love-hate thing going on with the Biggest Little Best Of Northern Nevada. Mostly, particularly now that you’re holding it in your hands, it’s love. But there are moments, particularly when our printer decides to balk just as we start to proof, or when our soft-spoken operations guy, Aaron McCormick, calls to tell me there are botnet attacks on our ballot from Bangladesh, well, you know about the thin line.

But here we are, crises averted, and we hold a beautiful newspaper in our hands. We had 3,888 verified voters this year. Some 4,100 botnet votes were, of course, discarded. Jeez, why do people waste their time on this crap?

Anyway, thanks to everyone—including the editorial department—who put in the extra hours and work to make this a great issue. A big commendation to our superlative intern Devin Hansrote who did much of the fact checking. Special thanks to Aaron, who killed the botnets and assisted in building the ballot and disseminating the results. Thanks, too, to the rest of the ops staff.

Thanks to Miles Harley, who did the design; thanks to Amy Beck for shooting the great photos. Thanks to Kate Murphy and her team for getting all the ads together and the newspaper printed.

Thanks to John Murphy, Bev Savage, Gina and Matt Odegard, and Kelly Funderburk, who sold a bunch of ads to make this issue as big as we wanted it to be. Thanks to Karen Brooke and Nanette Harker, who keep things running seamlessly around here, while everyone else goes crazy.

Thanks to Jeff vonKaenel and Deborah Redmond who keep me around in spite of everyone’s best advice.

Thanks to Ricardo Olvera who created the beautiful art.

And mostly, thanks to you readers for voting and for picking up the issue. We couldn’t do it without you.
