Streeter search

Nevada attorney general investigators searched the files of Streeter Imports, 865 Kietzke Lane, on Tuesday.

The attorney general’s office refused to comment on the case since it is an ongoing investigation, except to say that Streeter was not the focus. Officers of the insurance fraud unit performed the search.

Tom Sargent, the attorney general’s public information officer, said it was unrelated to any investigation about the rumored suicide of the dealership’s owner, Fred Streeter. The official cause of Streeter’s death is awaiting the toxicology reports from the Washoe County Coroner.

Bob Zamora, an investor in the business, said he didn’t know specifically what investigators were searching for, but that it wouldn’t reflect back on the business.

“There were here when I walked into work this morning,” he said. The search started about 9 a.m. “They said it won’t implicate the dealership, but maybe some individuals. I don’t believe those individuals are with the company anymore.”

Earlier this year, the RN&R reported that Streeter Imports had lost its Mercedes-Benz franchise after a series of legal battles.
