At Trinity Episcopal Church, Dan Erwine introduced a showing of The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming. Trinity this month hosted a showing of art by Ludmila Pawlowska, who was inspired by Russian icons at a monastery in Sudzel, Russia. As part of the show, Trinity also ran two Russia-related movies—1938’s Alexander Nevsky directed by Sergei Eisenstein with music by Prokofiev. The second film, The Russians are Coming, is a 1966 comedy about a Russian sub that runs aground in New England and the locals who defend against the “invasion.” Asked for the link between the art display and the 1966 movie, Erwine said, “Tenuous.”
