Reno

Interact with the elected ones
Let’s hear no more griping about the city of Reno behind the backs of those you’ve chosen to chart the city’s course through these tumultuous economic times. A series of town hall meetings in January will give you a chance to meet your Reno City Council person—in person. Or, by watching a live broadcast on Sierra Nevada Community Access Television, you can call in and ask questions of the elected ones while also showing your support for the SNCAT broadcasts of such proceedings.

As reported in “Council TV,” RN&R, Dec. 31, Reno Mayor Bob Cashell recently called into question the efficiency and usefulness of taping and airing of 8- to 10-hour council meetings via SNCAT. This may be an opportunity to show the programming’s effectiveness.

Meetings listed below begin at 7 p.m. They’ll air on SNCAT Cable Channel 13. If you decide to trek down to City Hall (490 S. Center St.) for the occasion, light refreshments will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Jan. 8: Dwight Dortch, Ward 4

Jan. 12: Dave Aiazzi, Ward 5

Jan. 13: Toni Harsh, Ward 1

Jan. 15: Sharon Zadra, Ward 2

Jan. 20: Mayor Bob Cashell

If you’re wondering about At-large Councilman Pierre Hascheff, he’ll be dropping in and out of several of the above meetings. Ward 3 Councilwoman Jessica Sferrazza held a town hall meeting several months ago.
