At a gathering at Cliff Young’s home, Young chatted with Harold Jacobsen, left, his college roommate. After college, Jacobsen served as a state legislator from Humboldt County, a Nevada regent, and mayor of Carson City. Young went on to serve as Nevada’s only U.S. House member in the 1950s, as a state legislator and Nevada Supreme Court justice.
