Hostage

Rated 3.0 This is one nutty hostage movie. Bruce Willis plays a former hostage negotiator turned small-town police chief. Some kids trying to steal a rich guy’s car wind up killing a cop and taking people hostage inside a fortress house. A strange twist has Willis’ character return to his negotiating roots in an effort to save more than the hostages in the house. Willis is perfect for this movie, and his performance is key to making this nonsense work. Director Florent Emilio Siri goes crazy with over-the-top visuals and events, but Willis remains a decent emotional anchor throughout. A good Saturday-night thriller with some mighty tense moments.
