Hometowne heaven

Eight thousand twinkling lights, seven city blocks, 60 feet of evergreen tree and five hours of warm and fuzzy Christmas fun. Who can resist? Victorian Square in Sparks will be brimming with the Christmas spirit as the 15th annual Hometowne Christmas celebration gets underway on Saturday, Dec. 1. This year’s theme is the 12 Days of Christmas, and events will include an appearance by Santa, the lighting of a 60-foot Christmas tree and a parade with special patriotic highlights. Singer and pianist Erika Paul (pictured) and her a cappella vocal group, the Satin Dolls, will perform at 2:45 p.m. at the Glendale School House. Food and drink will be available at a variety of vendor stands. Festivities will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; the parade will begin at 1 p.m. For more information, call 353-7857.
