Graded slopes

The Ski Area Citizens’ Coalition has released its annual Ski Area Environmental Report Card, with Sierra resorts again leading the pack. Squaw Valley USA ranked No. 1 in the nation, and Alpine Meadows ranked third, both with A grades, for their ability to respect their environment while running a ski resort. (Coming in second was Park City Mountain Resort in Utah.)

Here’s a rundown of the grades received by Nevada and nearby California ski resorts:

A: Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, Boreal Mountain,

B: Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe, Dodge Ridge, Mt. Shasta Board & Ski Park, Kirkwood Mountain, Homewood, Sierra-at-Tahoe, Mammoth Mountain

C: Bear Valley, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Heavenly

D: Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard (It placed ninth on the group’s Top 10 Worst list.)
