Free six packs

Do a (specific) good deed, get a light bulb. That’s the basic premise of a program from NV Energy. Through the end of 2009, the utility is giving a free six pack of energy-efficient, compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) to local residents who give blood to United Blood Services. Those who donate used clothing or other household items to the Friends of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Reno or who adopt a pet from the Nevada Humane Society, the SPCA of Northern Nevada or The Pet Network of Incline Village get 12 free CFLs.

According to a press release, 128,000 CFLs have been distributed by the company so far.
