Exodus continues

Departures of the Reno Gazette-Journal’s most experienced people continue. The newspaper is offering buyouts to those over 50 who have 20 years tenure.

Among those accepting buyouts is a Mount Rushmore lineup of some of the newspaper’s most talented people—Tonia Cunning, Steve Sneddon and Don Cox.

Lenita Powers and Sue Voyles, both veteran reporters with great depth of knowledge of local issues and players, are reportedly staying. Concern expressed by some readers about one of the newspaper’s most admired longtime employees, Frank Mullen, is unfounded. Mullen is not eligible for the buyout.

In other RG-J news, reporter Guy Clifton’s book Dempsey In Nevada has been published and Sundance Books will host a signing on Nov. 24.
