Comedian tailors material to hard times

Local comedian Howie Nave observed that the economic meltdown is affecting comedians’ routines: “As the year ends, and my nonexistent 401K beats me to the zero countdown, I hope that the upcoming year is anything but this year. There were some bright moments this year, sure, but overall the tension barometer has been pretty high. Let’s hope with ‘09 that people are a little happier (it could happen) and that our stress levels get a bailout. I have noticed even in the comedy club that people are tense, so I have been delivering the new stuff with more than an edge because we are pissed, a little worried and ready to snap, damn it!”
