Body of Lies

Rated 3.0

OK, I confess: I’m not entirely sure what was going on during portions of this movie, a new CIA/War on Terror thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. In fact, there were times where I was full-on blind and confused. But, to director Ridley Scott’s credit, the movie looks good, and DiCaprio is just so cool when he’s full of angst and pissed off. This is the genuine, ultimate Leo-is-pissed-and-he’s-not-going-to-take-it-anymore movie. DiCaprio plays a CIA operative who is basically in hell overseas, while his commander (Crowe) phones in his orders from his cushy home in the states. The action sequences are great, Crowe and DiCaprio are in good form, and Scott knows how to make movies that are visually exciting. He should just provide some Cliff Notes with this one.
