Arms manufacturer leaves Reno

U.S. Ordnance, which has been testing and manufacturing automatic weapons on Valley Road in Reno, has moved its facility to Storey County. The company is licensed by Saco Defense (General Dynamics) to manufacture and distribute the M60 machine gun.

The company moved to Lance Gilman’s Tahoe Reno Industrial Center after Storey County issued a special use permit requiring that the new facility have 24-hour security and an 8-foot fence topped off with serpentine wire.

A 2002 news release says, “Each U.S. Ordnance machine gun undergoes proof firing, function testing and accuracy testing before leaving the factory. … U.S. Ordnance delivers firearms that are extensively tested and battlefield proven.”
