Local movie buffs may find something to tickle their cinematic fancy when the fourth annual Reno Film Festival gets underway Thursday. This year’s event offers screenings of classic films, independent films and a movie premiere. Oscar-winning producer John Daly (Platoon, The Last Emperor), screenwriter/director Bob Gale (Back to the Future) and Oscar-winning film editor Richard A. Harris (Titanic) are scheduled to discuss their films and film-making experiences during the festival, which runs Nov. 6 through 9. Actors Christopher Lloyd, John Savage and John Saxon are also expected to make appearances during the festival. The event kicks off with the Reno Film Festival/GAMMA IndieFest, which showcases independent films in four different categories. One finalist, Five Beans in a Cup, was directed and produced by Reno filmmakers Rudy Calizo and Eric Matlock (shown above). Screenings begin 2 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Nevada Museum of Art, 160 W. Liberty St. Tickets are $8. The Cooler, which was filmed in Reno and stars William H. Macy, Alec Baldwin and Maria Bello, premiers 8 p.m. Nov. 6 at Century Theaters Riverside, 11 N.
