A guide thing

Fifth and sixth-graders from the Great Basin Outdoor School have helped create a field guide covering more than 100 Great Basin and Tahoe area plants and animals. It’s small, laminated and folds up, so it’s easy to bring along on a hike. It also includes information for homeowners about plants that create a high risk of fire. It’s sold for $7 at Sundance Books & Music in Reno, the Galena Creek Visitor Center and from Lahontan Audubon Society’s website, www.nevadaaudubon.org. Proceeds benefit Great Basin Outdoor School and its programs that introduce kids to nature.
