Wind blows at the Zephyr

Something’s going down at KZFR, although it was difficult to gather exactly what from a rather cryptic e-mail sent out recently by the community radio station’s Program Council. One thing is clear: The seven members of the council have resigned. The e-mail explained that “because paid staff has been added to KZFR, the purpose of the PC has been changed.”

A former program council member told the CN&R this week that the duties of the council—which include training potential programmers as well as choosing new programs—have essentially been stripped. Decision-making will now come from the station’s Board of Directors, and the council has been relegated to running booths at the Farmers Market.
