If you’re looking for a motel room during the weekend of Chico State University’s graduation, you’d better look early--almost a year early, in fact. Hopefuls camp out in the hallways of the motels here to reserve a room the day they start renting them.

Chico will keep you busy well into to the evening with plenty to see and do. But at some point you need to take a rest and refresh yourself for the next day’s fun. Travelers here for business, pleasure or both will find plenty of accommodations to their liking. From affordable motels to quaint bed-and-breakfast inns, Chico has a room for you. The hospitality is a bonus.

Most of the motels are located close to Highway 99, while some B&Bs are tucked away a bit. If you plan on staying a while and have a particular place in mind, reservations are suggested, especially during the busiest weekends, such as Memorial Day, Labor Day, Halloween and other notoriously “Chico holidays.” Graduation weekend is legendary here, and if you don’t book early, you’ll find yourself crashing on your kid’s couch or a town that’s half an hour away or more.
