Oh no, Costco!

Greenpeace website slams grocer’s seafood sales

Greenpeace recently launched the next phase of a campaign against Costco for selling red-listed seafood, according to a Greenpeace press release.

The conservation organization has created the website www.oh-no-costco.com, which includes a video mocking grocers who sell unsustainable seafood, as well as a variety of other resources about Costco’s fish practices.

Costco—the third-largest U.S. retailer—allegedly sells 15 of the 22 “red-listed” species, including orange roughy and Chilean sea bass. Red-listed species are most at risk of extinction and are determined by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources.
