My Life in Porn Brutal Uncut

Aside from the fact that both of these books are written by gay male porn stars, the writers also have many other things in common: spelling and grammar errors, dysfunctional parental relationships, and graphic descriptions of sexual encounters. But, if I had to choose a winner, Bobby Blake would be my choice. His testimonial of his life experiences and his journey leading up to, during, and after his life in the porn industry is the better written of the two. Blake has gone from one extreme as a preacher to another as a porn star and back again. He has the ability to make the life of a porn star seem glamorous and almost desirable. Almost. Aiden Shaw, on the other hand, with a life filled with tons of sex and even more drugs, manages to make it sound quite dull. Brutal Uncut (Shaw’s second book) drags on and becomes downright depressing. There is hope of redemption when he starts describing the five times in his life that he thought, “I’m so lucky to be alive.” But after No. 3 he decides, “Sorry, there weren’t even a handful.”
