Veggie lovers in the Avenues now have just steps to walk to pick up fresh, locally grown produce for the week.

Enloe Medical Center has started up a brand-new farmers market (pictured) on Tuesdays from 2-6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Enloe Conference Center (1528 Esplanade).

Through September, market goers will find an array of seasonal produce, including organic varieties. In addition, health professionals will provide tips and activities, such as fitness information, nutritious and delicious recipes, and blood-pressure screenings.

Parking for vehicles and bicycles is available in the Enloe parking structure at West Sixth and Magnolia avenues. According to Enloe, the farmers market is part of a patient-centered approach to health care that the hospital is implementing. For more info about the market, visit www.enloe.org/market.
