An estimated 300 join rally for workers’ rights

California United Home Care Workers and others voice their support for a spirited pro-labor speech given by Tom Reed, founder of the Butte County Health Care Coalition. Several of the estimated 300 attendees who gathered in Chico City Plaza on Saturday (April 23) for the Support Workers’ Rights Rally carried homemade signs summing up their feelings of solidarity with union workers who have recently had their collective bargaining rights threatened in a new anti-public-employee attitude that seems to be sweeping the nation. Those assembled sang along to folk songs by local performers and clapped and voiced approval of speeches by local activists, including a rousing talk by Scott Gruendl, a Chico city councilman and director of the Glenn County Health Services Agency.
