Heart-failure program snags stamp

Sutter Med Center’s heart-failure program honored

A Sacramento heart-failure clinic recently became the first in the nation to be certified under new standards that aim to improve the longevity of life for patients transitioning from inpatient to outpatient care, according to a Sutter Health press release.

The Sutter Heart & Vascular Institute Heart Failure Clinic at Sutter Medical Center met all requirements outlined by The Joint Commission, a nonprofit organization that accredits and certifies health agencies nationwide. The commission collaborated with the American Heart Association leading up to the July 1 launch of the new standards, which include recommendations on how organizations can improve assessment, monitoring and management of care of heart-failure patients.
