Grants help the homeless

HUD sends more than $500,000 to Butte County

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced this week that it was giving out $253.6 million in grants to 815 homeless housing and service programs in California, including $504,134 to Butte County.

The grants include $118,359 for the Esplanade House Shelter, $54,974 for the Esplanade House Transitional Housing and $46,754 for the Esplanade House Permanent Housing Program. The Avenida Apartments Supportive Housing Program on The Esplanade received $61,882 and the county’s Homeless Management Information System, which keeps track of the number of homeless, received $107,000

The grants are part of HUD’s Continuum of Care Program, according to a HUD press release.
