A giant pedal-powered owl (pictured), made of recycled materials by KZFR programmer Sharon North and a group of friends, caught the eye of passersby and attendees at the ReUse/ReCycle PedalObject Sculpture & Working Bikes, Trikes & Bikecart Awards Festival, held last Friday (May 14) as part of Bike Chico! Week.

North’s creation took second place at the event, which was sponsored by local health-advocacy nonprofit organization cChaos, and took place at the Chapmantown Farmers Market in the parking lot of the Dorothy F. Johnson Center. Winners appropriately received huge, recycled motorcycle-racing trophies.
