Water

New members have been appointed to Cal-Fed’s Bay-Delta Advisory Committee.

The 28-member panel includes Northern California representatives David Guy, executive director of the Northern California Water Association; O.L. Van Tenney, general manager of Glenn-Colusa Irrigation District; Denny Bungarz, Glenn County supervisor; and Robert Meacher, Plumas County supervisor.

They will all help implement a plan designed to make sure local users are involved with what happens to the water supply under the new setup for the Sacramento Valley.

Politics

Assemblyman Dick Dickerson, R-Redding, has hired John Busch to serve as southern district field representative.

Busch, who is widely known for his contributions to business and the Gridley community, will do Dickerson’s duty in South Butte and Sutter counties. He has also been on the Butte County Republican Central Committee for the last four years. He supports the reformation of the Endangered Species Act and feels environmentalists’ actions have been unjust.

Awards

The Chico Chamber of Commerce gave its Golden Rose Award to Diamond W Western Wear owner David Halimi for renovations done to his store. The award is given to business owners who have performed major remodels to their stores that beautify Chico.

Chico State students Ernest Witt (pictured) and Jaclyn Kruger were awarded Lt. Robert Merton Rawlins Merit awards this week. Faculty members nominated both honorees, who will receive the $2,000 awards.

Kruger is a business administration major and a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. She was also a foreign exchange student in Australia.

Witt is enrolled in the university’s teaching credential program and works with Pleasant Valley High School’s child development class for music.
