Chico Velo’s new honcho

Advocacy group Chico Velo Cycling Club has a new top dog, though she’s not new to the race. Renee Buchan has been active in the local cycling scene for more than a decade, serving most recently as volunteer coordinator for the Wildflower Century. She will take the reins as executive director later this month from Janine Rood, who is stepping down from the post she’s held since 2012.

“Renee has a proven track record of building strong, positive relationships with local government, businesses and partner organizations,” according to a Chico Velo press release. In addition to the cycling organization, Buchan has been active with the Butte Humane Society and the city of Chico’s Park Watch program.
