Banger gets booked

Older brother of convicted gang murderer arrested outside Chico restaurant

Chico police officers were called out to a brawl Sunday (April 11) outside of a north-Chico restaurant, taking into custody the older brother of a convicted gang murderer.

Marcelino Siordia was just 17 years old when his younger brother, Freddy, then 16, was accused and later sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole for multiple attacks, including the stabbing death of Oroville resident Bryan Semore at a Chico gas station in 2005. The elder Siordia, now 22, served time for his role as an accessory and for gang fighting in that case.

He was picked up for a parole violation during the recent altercation outside of Mariscos Ixtapa restaurant on Cohasset Road in La Dolce Piazza. The incident happened in the wee hours of the morning as a large group exited a private party at the eatery.

According to the Chico Police Department, a 21-year-old man was severely beaten and found unconscious. Siordia was arrested after running away from police. Another man whom witnesses linked to the crime, 20-year-old Eriberto Curiel, was picked up on suspicion of DUI.
